Governance

The founders of the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy always wanted to make sure that in addition to creating a world class facility for elite athletes, the local community benefited and that there was wide spread use of the site by local people. To help achieve this an independent Trust was established, through a Trust deed dated 8th June 2001.

The Trust is directed by Trustees. At any one time there must be a minimum of 3 trustees and a maximum of 7 trustees. Trustees serve for a 3 year period, but can be reappointed. However no trustee can serve for a continuous period of more than 12 years.

Trustees receive no financial reward. All of the funds that the Trust raises are used to support our aims.

Current Trustees (with dates of first appointment) are:

John Tweed (2013) (Chairman)

Paul Kent (2015)

Lady Catherine Williams (2018)

Frances Guppy (2020)

Steven Moatt (2021)

Tris Best (2021)

Paul Kent is Treasurer to the Trust and the Trust is administered by the Clerk. Tom Grainger has held this position since 2011. The Clerk can be contacted by emailing clerk@chesilsailingtrust.org.uk
